Edinburgh Fringe 2026 · Casting Call

The Guest

Danny O'Hara / Dogface Improv

Hi, I'm Danny O'Hara — one half of Bendy House and a founder, teacher and performer with Dogface Improv in Norwich. I'm a theatremaker, director and actor. This year marks my 9th Edinburgh Fringe and 3rd year working with PBH.

I'm casting an established improvised show at this year's Fringe.

Format: Armando (longform improv)

Dates: August 8th–30th (2 days off TBC)

Time: 5:00pm–5:55pm

Venue: Confirmed for what was the Brewdog Hotel — wheelchair access via lifts and a ramp.

Cast size: 8–10 performers for the month (4–6 per show, with possible guest performers)

Commitment: As much as you want as long as we can fit you in.

About the show

A warm, feel-good Armando format that's been performed across Norfolk. We interview a guest on stage and use their stories as inspiration for improvised scenes. We never recreate the interview directly — instead we explore its themes, ideas and emotions.

We return to the guest throughout the show and end with a one-minute dream sequence inspired by their stories. This is a supportive, respectful format — the guest is always cared for and never the butt of the joke.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Armando / longform improv (essential)
  • Confident, sensitive interviewing skills
  • Ability to collaborate and make bold, thoughtful choices

Rehearsals

  • At least 3 Zoom rehearsals
  • Ideally 1–2 in-person rehearsals in Edinburgh if needed

Expectations

  • Help with flyering and online promotion as much as you can
  • Collaborative, generous, and professional attitude

If we make a profit at the end of the run after expenses we'll share it out, but we probably won't — however, you can advertise your own shows.
