Clowning for Improvisers - with Iona May-zing
Sunday 16th March 2025 - 14:00 to 17:00
Clowning can be many different things, but this workshop is about relaxing into who you are and playing with what you find there. Clowning doesn’t have to be about working towards a finished product to share in a formal circus or theatre setting (although it can be); it can be more like a practice in playfulness, in a similar way that going to the gym is a practice in fitness. What comes out of this is often extremely joyful and funny.
In this workshops, we will discover what happens when we bring clowning to some familiar improv games. There will be the chance to wear a fun hat and a red nose to help to bring out the play but there’s no squirty flowers, big shoes or scripted routines. With a big emphasis on the importance of looking after yourself, I will support you in being guided by your physical and emotional experiences.
