The Living Room
Sunday 18th May 2025 - 11:00 to 13:00
Charna Halpern, founder of the legendary improv school IO, says that she created The Living Room from when her long form group The Family would visit her. They would chat in Charna’s living room and because they are improvisers, they would jump up and do scenes during their conversations.
Because Charna enjoyed watching them so much, she actually took her real living room furniture to IO and asked The Family to improvise on stage exactly like they did in her home.
I'm not suggesting I'm going to bring my sofa in, but I do love the feeling of lounging around with friends, just chewing the fat, and then springing into an improv scene as and when inspiration arrives.
Basically we sit, drink tea and let ourselves be inspired.
In this workshop we'll cover the basics and then play. This format does require us to be a version of ourselves on the sofa - come and join us for 2 hours of lounging and scenes!
Here is an old video showing you how to get to the hall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-0RbLymZNo
